Don Jones Biography
From an early age, Don Jones directed his passion for music into a lifelong career that has encompassed the artist management, booking agency and concert promotion sides of the entertainment industry.
Founding his self-named company in 1965, Don has left an indelible mark on the Canadian music industry, helping many artists’ careers soar. He was born in London, Ontario in 1949 to Charles and Dorothy Jones. His father, an entrepreneur, and his mother, a lover of opera and big band music, provided the young Don an early introduction to the arts. Close friends to Guy Lombardo and his brothers, Charles and Dorothy Jones owned and managed Wonderland Gardens in London, where Guy Lombardo and The Royal Canadians performed through out the 1960s.
The combined impact of hearing and seeing all the great big bands during his childhood motivated the young Don toward a career in music promotion. At the early age of 14, Don began promoting teen dances in and around London. Eventually he persuaded his father to let him book a local rock band at Wonderland Gardens. This successful first concert led to another and then another. Within no time, Don was working as talent booker, promoter and production co-ordinator for all the concerts held at Wonderland Gardens.
Throughout the seventies, eighties and nineties Don kept busy booking top named international artists such as Alice Cooper, Anne Murray, The Irish Rovers and numerous other artists for performances in London and across Canada.

In 1982, Don met children’s icon Mr. Dressup, Ernie Coombs, of CBC television’s popular children’s show. After only a couple of live concert dates a steadfast friendship evolved between the two men. Together they toured across Canada for over twenty years. Even after Ernie’s retirement in 1998, these two best friends could be found on the golf course each year, raising funds for Peter Gzowski’s Literacy foundation. It was during the years working with Ernie that Don became manager, booking agent and concert promoter all rolled in one.
Although unofficially semi-retired, Don is still actively involved in the artist management wing of his company. Presently, he oversees the touring schedule for CBC radio host and best-selling author Stuart McLean. Together they tour across Canada, playing over 50 live shows each year.
Looking forward to the next couple of decades, Don’s eldest son Brad Jones is taking the company on its next journey. Vice-president since 1997, Brad personally manages the touring careers of distinguished artists Roch Voisine, The Rankin Sisters and Robert Munsch. Like his father, Brad understands the importance of the "one-on-one" personal touch that his father maintained throughout the seventies, eighties and nineties with Ernie Coombs. Brad’s perceptive business acumen coupled with a great sense of humour, determines that each tour will be a joyful success.
Brad also heads the festival entertainment buyer division of the company. This service offers festival clients one-stop shopping from the preliminary steps of booking the entertainment to supplying production services on the festival date.

A member of the American Federation of Musicians of The United States and Canada, the company is able to secure numerous artists directly through this association and from artist management firms.
In addition to booking festivals, Don and Brad also co-promote music theatre productions of "Memories of Hank Williams & Patsy Cline", "The Rat Pack", "From Doo-wop To Motown" and "Abbamania" in theatres nationwide.
Also actively involved in the family business is Don’s youngest son Greg Jones. Since 2001, Greg has managed the ticketing and patron services division in addition to assisting in the office with pre-touring activities.
Today, Don Jones Productions is a full-service artist management and concert promotion company. Understanding the keys to success in both industries, Don and Brad have created the most viable, unique, effective means to tour across the country. Representing a very small group of world-class artists affords the close personal attention between artist and management that has been the landmark of this company’s success.
