Capitol recording artist, comedian and star of stage, film, and TV, Rodney Carrington isbringing his live stand-up comedy show, The El Nino Loco across Canada this 2009-2010 season .
~
Rodney is very excited to be bringing his newest tour to Canada for the first time. The multi-million selling artist has released seven major label albums, garnered two Gold Records, his own sitcom on ABC, a co-starring role in a major movie with Toby Keith, a one-hour Comedy Central special, and regularly sells out concerts in the US. He has just released a new CD of all comedy songs produced by country star Toby Keith entitled El Nino Loco, which debuted at number two on the Soundscan charts. A traditional Christmas CD, Make it Christmas is due to be released in October. Other plans for 2009 include the upcoming release of the first and second seasons (2004-2006) of his self titled ABC sitcom RODNEY on DVD.
In 2008, Rodney co-starred and co-wrote a major motion picture with country music star Toby Keith entitled Beer for My Horses. The movie debuted in theatres nationwide in August, 2008, and on CMT on November 2, 2008. Beer for My Horses was released on DVD in November of 2008, and is still in current rotation on CMT.
Rodney also co-starred in the hit music video by Trace Adkins, “I Got My Game On”, which won three awards on the 2008 CMT Music Video Awards, including “Male Video of the Year,” and “Video Director of the Year” for Michael Salomon. Rodney was nominated for, and won the category “Supporting Character of the Year” for his role.
All of this follows on the heels of his many projects and accomplishments in 2007, which included the release of a major new CD, King of the Mountains; live concert DVD and Comedy Central special, Live at the Majestic. He also released his first hard cover book entitled Rodney Carrington, Coming Clean.
Rodney currently has seven albums out on major labels, several of which still maintain coveted spots on the comedy charts. Greatest Hits and Morning Wood have achieved gold status from the RIAA.
Rodney's popularity derives, in large part, from his closeness with his audience. Instead of moving to Los Angeles or Nashville, Rodney stayed in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He remains grounded through frequent live shows. He has been a Pollstar Top 100 grossing concert act since 2001, reaching #28 in 2003 before television commitments forced him to cut back his touring schedule. Now that he's back to full-time touring, he regularly sells out back-to-back 3,000 seat concerts in major cities.
